Happy Earth Month!

Around here, April is Earth Month. We don’t talk about it enough, but we’re proud members of 1% for the Planet, an international community of like-minded businesses and non-profits who recognize that sustainable and regenerative business practices are the future for our one, home planet. We pledge 1% of our yearly revenue to climate causes to help out Mother Nature.

In addition, we’re committed to sustainable business practices. For example,

  • We source locally. From our own honey to Rishi tea to Wisconsin hops, our ingredients don’t travel far before they get into your glass.

  • We package in aluminum cans. Aluminum is 100% recyclable and as one of the most recyclable materials on earth, can be recycled many times.

  • We use MUCH less water to make our session mead than it takes to make alcohol from crops like wheat, barley, corn, cane sugar, grapes, etc. While many of these crops are irrigated, honey produced by honey bees comes from visiting flowers watered primarily by rain.

  • We support around 180 bee colonies with both our own beekeeping ventures as well as bees making honey for us in Germantown, WI.

  • We planted 3.5 acres of native perennials in fall of 2022, which will be supporting not only our honey bees, but also native pollinators!

Join us on Saturday, April 20th (2024) to clean up the John Muir trails! We’re joining SKORR, another 1% for the Planet member, to clean up the mountain biking trails so more people can get outside. We’ll return to The Hive Taproom afterwards for a well-deserved beverage. Want to join us? We know that when we come together, we can do great things for each other and for Mother Nature.

Cheers to Earth Month!
