Honoring our beloved honey bees seems apropos as we share our gratitude for our honey harvest last week and celebrate at our Anniversary Party this Saturday!
As with all things in agriculture, the amount of extra honey the bees make depends a great deal on mother nature. With the abundant (but not too much) rain this summer, we were fortunate to have harvested more honey than last year and extend our gratitude to the literal worker bees for their hard work.
As we join the nation in celebrating honey bees this Saturday on National Honey Bee Day, we recognize their immense contributions to our life:
Pollinating our food crops – over 80% of our fruits and vegetables would not exist without pollination!
Supporting over 90% of our native plant species, ensuring the health of our local ecosystem.
Producing extra honey to share with us!
In addition to joining us this Saturday for ALL the celebrating, here are 5 ways you can support honey bees in your own home:
🪴 Grow an herb garden and avoid using toxic chemical sprays. Or, collect and spread local wildflower seeds to promote honey bee health.
🐝 Make a bee watering stop by placing pebbles in a small bowl or bird bath so the bees have a place to land while they drink.
☕️ Replace your usual sweetener with honey for the day and taste the difference!
🍯 Support your local beekeepers and give the gift of raw local honey to a friend, neighbor, co-worker or family member.
🥂 Purchase products made with raw, local honey, like a refreshing beverage from The Hive!
